DIVORCE CASE.

NEW PLYMOUTH. May 17.
At the Supreme Court to-day, before the Chief Justice and a common jury. Ernest Harvey (Kaponga) petitioned for a divorce from Clarice Harvey on the grounds of misconduct with Patrick Deegan. farmer, Kakaramea, and also claimed £SOO damages from the corespondent. The parties were married in 1906, and rented a house at Kaponga from Deegan in 1913. Deegan later boarded with the Harveys, buV«ventually was forbidden the house by the petitioner. Deegan went to Kakaramea. The respondent was frequently away from home, and was supposed to be at her mother's at Inglewood. The petitioner traced her to a Hawera hotel, where she was cohabiting with Deegan. The defence admitted misconduct., but the evidence of the respondent, it was submitted, went to show persistent cruelty by the petitioner, which contributed to or induced misconduct. The jury returned a verdict for the petitioner, with damages £225. A decree nisi was granted, to be made absolute in three months.
