PARLIAMENT BUILDINGS.
APPROACHING COMPLETION.
The completion of the new Parliament Buildings from the outside seems very remote but a tour of the interior shows that the -Chamber of Representatives and various suites of rooms are ap- • oroaching completion. The Minister foi '-Palbic Works has said that the members of the House of Representatives " have had their last session in the stuffy and cramped temporary buildings and from present signs it sems that the prediction that- the new chamber will be ready for next session will be fulfilled without difficulty. Work is well forward on the Legislative Council Chamber, but it is not expected that, this section will be finished in time for the next session. About three-quarters of the asphalt roofing of the whole block is finished. This will provide a large flat . expanse, wel protected by ramparts upon which legislators and others will be able to take the air in comfort above the smoke and the dust. The brickwork of the whole building is nearly finished, and hte stonework in the chief front is almost cocplete. All the small stones quired to finish the buildang are cut. • The onlv difficulty now is in obtaining " the large blocks of marble needed for the columns, cornices, and keystones. It is not expected, however that there will be any serious delay.
