TROUBLE IN A SHOE FACTORY.
DISPUTE WITH EMPLOYEES,

AUCKLAND, May 16.
The Murray Shoe Company <-easel work last night in consequence' of a dispute with the employees remind* t, the employment of an unskilled worker. It is stated that the man, who is nov a returned soldier ,was put on in the finishing, idepartmdnt, a(nd/ wae) Bent:, to the union office to join as a member, but was. refused. The reason given was that one of the members was then out of employment when tho man was placed in the finishing department. The foreman and other men refused to give him any instruction in the minor operations; and the firm dispensed .with their services. The workmen stated that they were acting in accordance with a resolution of the union. ■ Ihpy. also said they objected to an unskilled man receiving the same wages as they, did after a five years' apprenticeship.,,.
