KlCtiMONin BOROUGH COUNCIL. The usual bi-monthly meeting of the Richmond Borough Council was held on Tuesday, 14th. inst. Present—The Mayor (Mr W. E. Wilkes), Crs. Hart, Batt, Ingram, Cross, Win, and Thorn. The recommendations of the sub-com-mittee appointed to deal -with the wages u*>der the Arbitration Award* were adopted. Accounts were passed for payment amounting to: General Account £B7 lis lOd; Water Supply Account £lB 12s lid; 'Cemetery Trust Account £4 Is 4d. Correspondence was dealt with as follows:—The deferred notice of motion in. Cr. Batt's name, That the resolution on the minutes of the 10th July. 1917, to the effec h a his Coun f.il meet to 'transact general 'business on the second and fourth Tuesday in each month be now rescinded was carried. For the resolution : 'Crs. 'Batt, Thorn, Win and Hart. Against: The Mayor, Crs. Ingram and Cross. !The 'Foreman reported thati the White Hart Hotel culvert had bee,, repaired and also the Salisbtiry Road bridge. Some filling had' been put on, but owing to the tides not being suitable, sufficient gravel had not been obtainable. The old. timber has been offered for sale, and £1 was the best offer. A new pipe lia'd bee n P"t on or\' Salisbury Road, and the fire-plug raised. The gravel on all the roads had been blinded. The roller had' been refilled with iron and cement. The m>ter .at the Alexandra Home was connected on 26th April. The weeds in the -Cemetery- had been grubbed out and the paths trimmed up. There was still a little more grubbing to be done. Work had been started on Hill street.

Resolved that the report be received, and that the offer for £1 for the old timber from the bridge at Salisbup*" lload be accepted.

Resolved that the rates be the same as last year. «nd that a special meetiiirg be held' on Tuesday, 11th Junr. for the confirmation of same. Resolved that a resident be written to drawing his attention to by-laws No. 59. 66 and 67, and notifying him that if there is any infringement of these, the Council will take legal proceedings. Resolved that the Railway Department be written to asking to" have the ditch cleaned out below the culvert at Mav's.

Resolved that the Water Committee produce a box and hose as suggested for cleaning out. the Reservoir.

Resolved that the matter of disposing of the timber at the Reservoir be left-in the hands of the Water 'Committee.
