AFFORESTATION
I LEAGUE TO BE FORMED IN 1 NELSON.
At a meeting of the Provisional Committee of the Forestry League last evening, it was agreed to take steps to form a Nelson Forestry Society, the objects of which should be the same as those stated in the New "Zealaud Forestry League's booklet. It was resolved to recommend that the annual subscription should be 2s 6d, and that the management of the affairs of the society should be in the hands of a committee of seven members with a president and secretary, to be elected at" the inaugural meeting to be held about the second week in June._ On that occasion it is proposed to give short papers on the commei-cial aspect _of planting waste lands in this district, and also on the imported forest trees that have been thriving in this city for the last 30 or 40 years.
