Mrs A. R. Batching of Wellington, has received ; word that her second son, Sergeant George K. Kitching, of the Australian Forces, has been wounded in the neck and. pirn, in' the recent operations in Palestine, but particulars of'.the .'nature'of the wounds have not been given, Mrs 'etching's youngest, son, Charles, who had been engaged in the mercantile marine, has joined the Canadian'F!yins; Oorph, and passed his examinations
Cable advice has been recived by Mr G.ebrge Harvey, of Sandy Bay, stating that his son. Private G. J. (Harvey., died of acute nephritis on May 7th, at the New Zealand General Hospital, Codford.
A Wellington Association message states that Captain A. M.Tolhurst, R.A.M.C., son of Mr G. E. Tolhurst, formerly Inspector of the Union Bank, was killed on the -Western front. He leaves a widoyv and two children. A Greymouth Press Association message records the death of Mr Jacob Theodore Skoglund, an old identity, and an ex-Mayor. Mr. J. Hockey, Halifax-street, has been advised that his son, Hazel v. Hockey, was received into the 7th Canadian General Hospital on January 23rd, suffering from inflammation of the left leg. The Base Records Branch states that the advice was received' by the last mail from England, and adds; "As no cable was received, it may tje safely considered that the disability was only slight, and that tne soldier is now well and with his unit. ' Tha Mayor has received advice that the following Nelsonians are among the latest "draft of returned soldiers, and, except the cot cases, the men should reach Nelson on Saturday: .Sergeant A. E. Snow. Corporal PL B. Dodson, Lance-Corporal J. H. Hayton, Privates F. W. Adair, H. V. Fisher, IC. E. Sfebbine. C. Merrftt. E. Stewart, and j W T . H. Harris, Corporal N. A.
