APPLE DAY
GREAT RUSH FOR FRUIT. The experiment of an Apple Day was tried in town to-day, when apples were sold at a very cheap rate. Growers brought a large quantity, which was stacked at the Church Steps. There was a great rush of the public to obtain supplies, arid the result was that spot cash purchasers took away all the apples, leaving orders for several hundred cases on hand. These will be delivered next week. The sales at the Church Steps exceeded 600 bushels, while at noon there were orders for about a similar number of cases. -i ' -'»■■■ - ■■'■' ■"»
