METHODIST CONFERENCE.

D-tTNECIN, Feb- 28.
The Methodist Conference opened tonight, about .200 representatives being present. The Rev. W. A. Sinclair, the retiring President, delivered his address. The (Rev. T. A. Joughlin (Timaru) was inducted as' President for the ensuing year. . Mr E. Dixon (Hawera) was elected vice-president, defeating (Mr J. HBlackwell (Kaiapoi) by 104 to 57. The voting for President for 1919 resulted as follows :—H. M. Bellhouse (Auckland), 64; S. Oriffith (Dunedin), 19; E. Drake .(Wellington), 17; B. F. Rothwell .(Blenheim), 9. The Rev. E. Drake was elected secretary for 1919.
