A meeting of the committee of the Nelson Jockey' Club was held yes4erday afternoon, when final arrangements for the club's forthcoming meetiug were made. Ther e were present: Messrs J. H. Finney (president, in the chair), M. P. Webster (vice-president), H. Baigent, R. Hunter, .J. A. Stringer, J. E. Bartlett, J. Wadsworth, C. Hag gi-tt, F. G. Edwards, and D. Crushelc. It nvas resolved to engage the ser vices : of Messrs Vitetta Brothers' string orchestra of seven performers to supply music on. both days. Miss Tomlinson, hon. secretary of the Nelson Red Cross Committee, applied 1 for permission) to collect on the course on behalf of the fund.—Granted. 1 An application by Adjutant Parker to collect in aid of the Salvation Army's local funds was declined. Mrs E. N. Richardson, Miss R. Richardson, and- Messrs E. J. Heale, C. L. Diamanti, and T. Ross were elected members of the plub. The president reported that the Railway Manager had declined the club's I request to run relief trains on race days. Arrangements were then made to commence the races each day at' 11.30 a.m., and to start th e last race at 4.10 p.m., which will- ena'ble patron* to j catch the 5 p.m. train leaving Rich- J mond. • - Mt Edwards reported that the manacer of the Union Steasmhip Companyi had' arranged to 'delay the departure of the Pateena for Picton and Wellington on Thursday, March 7th, until 6 p.m. The secretary reported that he had' been nnable to" arrange for a puncheon booth, ' but afternoon tea. and light refreshments- would be obtainable. It was decided tha no complimentary tickets be issued to persons resident in the district. "
NET SON TROTTING CLUB. A meeting of the- committee of the Nelson Trotting Club was held yesterday afternoon. Present: - Messrs H. Baigent (president,' in the chair), TL. Hhioter, F. G. Edwards, J. Watson, M. P. Webster, J. FI. Finney, and 1 I>. Crushek. A letter was read from the hon. secretary, St. Mary'? Orphanage, on behalf of th e Sister?, thanking th e committee for permitting a collection to be taken up in aid of the orphanage fuods which realised £24. The stipendiary steward (Mr T. H. D'avey) reported' that the recent meeting was successful from every point of view, and that the stewards and' officials discharged' their satisfactorily. . The secretary presented an interim balance-sheet, showing a net profit on the recent meeting of £65, which was An ideal drink with meals or between meals, is a little KOLA-NIP in a glass of aerated -water.
