[ Dear Boys and Girls, —We have had • printed certificates xor presentation to ! school boys or giids who will do fifty , hours service without i*e\vai*d, helping the wife and widow oi any soldier. Married men are nj>w called to the front to face danger and death, leaving their ' dear ones behind them. They feel the separation badly, but they are helping ■ others besides themselves. Their homes i are lonely, and their absence -is keenly i felt. Will you do somethine to relieve i their soi'row and repair their loss? { Your aid will do much to chase away ! grief, for it will show that you are tak- ; ing an interest in their welfare. Have | they a garden to be dixg and tidied? Are weeds taking the place- of flowers, or vegetables withering? Is there a wood-heap to be chopped up? Is ther.e a cow to be milked, a fence to be repaired, or messages to be run? It is ■ surprisiixg how > many things you can ! do, and if yoxx earn one of the certifi- \ cates, as you grow up, when the war is j over ,and the world has become bright again, you will live to treasure it. If ; the headmaster, or chief officer of any Scout Company, recommends it and states that it has been earned, the certificate will 'be awarded and forwarded. Certificates will also be forwarded to any school or Scout Troop that provides a supply of flowers or vegetables to any orphanage or hospital, where • wounded soldiers are admitted. Now children, roll up and do your duty. It is a small sacrifice, and the prize will grow in value. F NO'RRIS, Hon. Organiser, National .Service League. Alasterton.
