CHURCH OF CHRIST
ANNIVERSARY SERVICES
LARGE GATHERING IN SCHOOL OF MUSIC.
The Church of Christ Bible School anniversary was held on Sunday afternoon and evening in the School of Music. A very large audience was present in the afternoon. The organ gallery and platform was filled with scholars, who presented a fine picture of happy-laced j-oung people, who sang with much enthusiasm and did great credit to Mr E. M. Jackson, wno has had them in training for the past few weeks. Mr R. A. Wright, M.P., from Wellington, spoke on "Obedience," well interspersed with illustrations, to' which the children gave splendid attention. The evening service at 6.150 was crowded, and the school again pang to the pleasure and gratification of all present. Mr Wright took for his evening address "National Repentance," which proved to be a live subj/ct. dealing very largely with the war. The attention was very fine from start to finish. The speaker based his remarks on the third chapter of Jonah, in the prophet's message to the Ninevites, and strongly urged national repentance as an absolute necessity "to the -speedy termination of the war. He dwelt on the national sins of Belgium, Serbia, France, and forcibly showed the need of the British nation turning to God. Mr Wrisrht at some~"length dealt with destructive criticism, lov e of pleasune, and materialistic tendencies, which in his judgment, were largely responsible for the indifference, apathy and forgetfulness of God of the present day, and the need oi individual and na tional repentance. A very successful and enjoyable day's services were brought to a close in a song .from the school and the Benediction by Mr .t\ A. Dickson. The interior of the building had been very tastefully decorated under the supervision- of Mrs E. M. Jackson, Mr Claude Page presided at the organ. The services will be continued this evening, when in addition to the children's singing there will be recitations and songs, and prizes won by the senior scholars will be distributed. QUITE. CONVINCED NOW. The most enthusiastic users of Easy Monday now are those who were at first sceptical of it. They doubted its merits, but one trial convinced them that it made clcahes beautifully white without a single rub being given. They also found it was quite harmless to the daintiest of clothes, and that it didn't affect the hands. Is packet does 8 weekly washings.
