HAYWARD'S PICTURES.

Nothing stronger in the way of contrast can be imagined than the two leading characters of the clever Triangle drama, "The Crab," which will head the bill at the Empire Theatre to-night. Thelma Salter is a dimpled smiling delicious little girl actress, and she is the heroine. Frank Keenan is naturally well suited in the si'ini role of "Borrum," the village '"'Old Ugly," who has oppressed and terrorised the whole neighbourhood for years. Another splendid child, actor is the little boy whose exaggerated boyish yarn as to the rfappenings in Borrum's house rouse the village to take action against the alleged child-ber.ter. The court sceue is most touching, and Thelma Salter wilt'charm all hearts. After giving the barrister many daintily impudent answers, . she finished up with the most flagrant falsehood, "He's the kindest, goodest man in the whole world " It is an untruth, but it proceeds from a loyal little heart, and it works a strange miracle in the driedup soul of .the. srim hero. The photography is particularly beautiful. Some good comedy, scenic, and educational items are included in the programme, which is asdecidedly good one.
