ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.

During shunting operations Lawrence Sullivan, a retired 1 settler> from South Westland, over 70 years of age, was found run over. The body was terribly mutilated. [Deceased was seen on the railwajt platform shortly" before, and it is inferred! that he was taking- a short "cut across the railway line to his residence near-by. He leaves a widow and a grown-up family, and was well known among grazier's? of Cook River. A* son is serving with the Force*.
FOUND DEAD: PAHIATUA, Oct. 25. Thomas Rock; & single man, aged about 23 yeaTs, was found; dead in Cashin's stables this morning. Heart failure is believed to he the cause of death. Deceased was lately employed ,■ on a iarm. His mother lives at .Hast inga.
