A ship's fireman, Wiljiam Payirier, ■ tions ■■'wiifi going aboard an overseas vessel without a necessary permit, was to-day sentenced to one month's im~ prisonment by two Justices of the Peace. Accused, against whom there was no evidence of suspicious conduct, stated that he had gone aboard to look for work. He was found in the men's quarters by the captain and ordered to leave the shipleave the ship. Palmer leave the ship. Palmer left his shipat Greymoutn - a few days ago and sought work ashore;. but failed owing to lick of card. A. registration card jhad since been procured.
