ROAD BOARD. (From Our Own Correspondent.) . The Dovedalo Road Board met on • 17th -October, members present beinw: Messrs W. Best (in the'.chair), P. Loveridge,. W. M. Hawkes and A* Da.vie.o-. .. ■'',:'•,.'. ■ It was' resolved: That members mieei? ; on Turanian's Road the next morning to fix site for footbridge; that 'Accounts , am in future to be. sent, in at the •end of thft moiith in which the'work as done, or, by the regular, meeting of the ■Boaru ; Mr Waid to be .asked k to tar the bridges: that 'Mr McKeany 'bo paid as soon as h'» completes the work he is doing. Payments were made as follows :-rGeneral lund. £2O 18s 6d j Footbridge Account, £l7 Os 7d. A vote of sympathy was passed to Mr Jordan in his illness, the secretary to forward the same. "OUR DAY." YFrom o'im* Own Correspondent.) The gala and sports in aid of the social appear passed off -very nicely. Tho weather was fine. The juvenile portion, of the community turned up. in .good; numuers, and, of course, enjoyed; the day immensely. The. children'sevents were supervised by Misses McFarlane and Taylor and Messrs Milne, McCarthy, Clayton, W. H. Thomson, ', Goodyer, senr. and H. Burn. M. orifl BE. Brown rendered Valuable assistance iri- preparing for and .getting off the other events. The foot and bfc.vcle. obstacle races \yere the most interesting events of the day, and caused great interest and' amusement. Master McMan earner first in the foot race, and Mr: P. Mills in the cycle race. ; .■•:,' :'. ' '■.;•' ■..■ :",'; 'V'-.''.V ■v\' The fruit and sweet stall was a, pleasing feature, and was supervised; by Mrs, C: iDownic, junr., and Misfi Gibbs. The refreshment and tea booth was "\vell pat-, ronised, 'and -was under the supervißjlbn; , of Mesdames McFarlane> Bolton,' Watson, ißennit, and the secretary, Mrs Clayton;:.- •■ The suni of close upon £27 was taken and resulted in the sum of £23 od ; di being handed over to the Special Appeal Fund. The hewly-tformed committee for the Y.M.C.A. War Fund has got fairly to . work, and intend to raise a substantial sum in aid 01 i.ris Fund.
