i ♦. 1 VVAKEMELD. i [ BOWLING CLUB CONCERT. ! (From Our Own Correspondent.) A high-class concert, promoted by the Bowling Club, was given on Wednesdaylast, and proved a great success, although a wet day prevented a good I number supporting it, on account of dis- '" tance. The programme consisted entirely of items by town performers, and each was fully appreciated. It would nearly , be impossible to pick any special items | for praise, as they were all encored, j proving that all were excellent. A full i orchestra gave special selections. Misses [ Cass, Hanby, and Clarke, and Messrs j Bett, Sid Bush, Thompson, and Brady each rendered items. The Nelson Male Quartette, consisting of Messrs A. and T. Taylor, Brady, and Glover, were a special feature, and were loudly encored each time. Mr A. G. Thompson sang in very tine style and was recalled three times The Committee of the Red Cross and Bowling Club wish to thank the whole of the performers for care and trouble taken, especially considering the many calls they have had on their services during the last two months. Supper was provided' by Mrs Tunnicliffe and the evening closed with a dance.
