BRIGHTWATER MAGISTRATES COURT

A sitting of the Magistrate's Court was held at Brightwater yesterday before Mr F. O'B. liouglnan, S.M. J. Sigglekow was fined ss, and ordered to pay costs 7s and witnesses' expenses £l, for riding a bicycle at night without a light. For a similar offence F. Wililams was fined ss, and costs 7s.

UNLAWFUL DEER-SHOOTING.

The Nelson Acclimatisation Socifeiy proceeded against William Lines and Andrew Kerr for shooting a stag on September 10th, and also for shooting a doe. Lines pleaded guilty and Kerr not guilty. Mr G. R. Fell, who appeared for the Acclimatisation Society, said the shooting took place on Mr DTummond's property at Wangapeka, and that both defendants had been previously warned against shooting or going on the properly. •Mr Drummond's man found the two defendants, with a lad, having just shot a stag, and next day he found close by the remains of a doe.
