Mr Philip Gibbs reports fighting astride the Sensee River north-east of Croisellcs and west of Bullecourt. where the English are storming along the Hindenbnrg line. We are threatening the. garrisons of Fontaine, Les Croiselles, and Cherisy.

Renter's Headquarters correspondent says aii operation of considerable tactical importance was launched early this morning against the Hindenburg Line north and south of ahe Sensee with the object of capturing a length of the Htindetiburg trench passing Fontaine and Les Croiselles. This resulted successfully, notwithstanding enemy artillery reprisal all day. AWFRICA~ANO THE WAR ANOTHER FORCE FOR FRANCE. (Rec. Mav 21. 2.25 p.m.) WASHINGTON, May 20. The War Department is arranging for the despatch of a second and probably a larger Expeditionary Force to France in the near future. CHINA AND THE WAR. (Rec. Mav 21. 1&50 p.m.) ' PEKING, May 20. The House of Representatives voted not to consider war measures until the Premier and War Minister resign and Cabinet is reorganised. THREE SWEDISH. STEAMERS SUNK. (Rec. May 21, 1.45 p.m.) COPENHAGEN. May 20. The Swedish steamers Vesterland, Viking, and Aspen, grain-laden, from England to Sweden, were torpedoed in the North Sea. Two of the "Vesterlaud's and eight of the Viking's crews were drowned. FRENCH' AMBASSADOR AT PETROGRALi. (Rec. May 21. 1.45 p.m .l PARIS', May 20. M. Thomas, Minister of Munitions, who is visiting Petrograd, remains there as Ambassador till a successor has been appointed.
