THE MEAT QUESTION
PAYMENT BY IMPERIAL GOVERNMENT. (United Press Association.) ; WELLINGTON, This Day. The Minister of Finance stated today that in his judgment the import-' ant question of the basis of the financial liability for meat ■ had been satisfactorily solved. Representations with respect to meat in stores had been, made by the Governor "lo Sir Joseph Wai-d in London, and negotiations had, been going; on with the object of solving the difficulty of liability. Although.' the. negotiations were not q\tfto com-;, plete .the matter was sufficiently ad-. variced to justify a statement being' made that very substantial funds had been made available by the Imperial' Government as payment on account for, meat to be shipped on its behalf foi? distribution among the various ownersi , arid freezing companies and others con,\ : cerride.
