UNSATISFACTORY CONDITIONS IN TURKEY.

In some instances there had been heavy mortality. The Turks declined to allow the American authorities to visit the prisoners. Mr Hope, answering Mr W. W. Ashley, said the 'German ipirisoners l in our hands, according to incomplete returns, was as follows: Army, 833 officers and 42,082 men: Navy, 137 officer and 1982 men. The British prisoners in Oenmiani hands, inolndiiKr colonials and Indian, were: Armiy, officers 1027, men 28,737; Navy, officers and men, including the Naval Division, 3101.
