MAIL TOBACCO FUND

FOR SOLDIERS AND SAILORS AT THE FRONT. Every 6d provides a parcel consisting of 30 cigarettes, 2 ounces tobaccoj and some matches. Money sent through the Evening Mail Fund goes five times as far as that spent in the ordinary way. Not a penny of the money subsci'ibed is deducted! by the Evening Mail for the working- expenses of the Fund. The supplies -come from the dutyfree warehouses of Messrs Martins, Ltd., Piccadilly, London, the -wellknown cigar manufacturers. The War Office and the Admiralty distribute the parcels free of charge to all units in the fighting line. A postcard addressed to you is l enclosed in every 6d> parcel you subscribe for, and this enables the hapy soldier "vvho receives your gift to write and thank you personally .■when he can do so. Gifts can be sent to any individual in the Army or Navy provided full address is given. SINCERE THANKS EXPRESSED. The following are typical extracts from 'hundreds of post-cards received : "We have received your parcel of tobacco and cigarettes, and thank you for your thnughtfulness in subscribing to this fund, so that we get our comfort of a nice smoke during the weary hours we spend in -waiting." "Very many thanks for the excellent smokes which we all appreciate so much. If some men do not acknowledge the thoughtful gifts it is not ingratitude by any means. It is so easy to lose the post-cards.' "Many thanks for the parcel of tobacco which I received from you through the Evening Mail Tobacco Fund. I can assure you I "was very pleased to receive it, as we only get two packets of cigarettes and an ounce of tobacco a week here, which does notlast very long." "Many thanks for your gift of tobacco and cigarettes, which I received to-day. All the men are delighted to know we are not forgotten by our own people." "Your parcel of cigarettes came to hand this morning, for which I must thank you very much. Everyone, in the tent had a packet, and they all appreciated them very much."
