TUG OF WAR CONTEST.
(To the Editor.)
Sir, —;I would like to ask through your paper what the tug of war committee intend to do in regard to the funds of the original ladies tug of war. We were giveru to understand both on the ground at the Drill Shed' and since that each team had to be beaten twice, and on that understanding our team continued to train, but it appears to me, according to last night's Mail, that the Gommittee are calling for fresh nominations to be held on the 24th, 25th, 26th of this month. I wouldi like to ask
what the committee intend to do with ' the £6 that was donated by Mr Pharazyn; If they think they can throw- the first competition over when it is already half over or lost, and use the same £6 for another competition I think they are stepping a. bit beyond the mark. Do they think that ladies 1 are going to put up with this. There is one thing sure, our. team won't. Why not have held the finals of the pull that is a-lreadv in progress some evening in the Drill Shed and: get over the difficulty, I am, etc., ONE OF THE PORT TEAM.
(A member of the iCommittee gives the following explanation : —The allocation of the prize money mentioned has not been decided. It lies with the teams to decide which time is best to hold the final or else divide the stakes).
