HINDENBURG'S APPOINTMENT
AUSTRIAN COMMENT. (Reuter's Telegrams.) (Rec. Aug-. 5, 9.5 a.m.) COPENHAGEN, Aug. 4. Despatches from Vienna state that Hindenburg's appointment has enraged the Austrian military authorities. Three Buda Pest papers adversely commenting on it were suppressed. It appears that Himdeniburcr refused to appoint Austrians to his staff, insisting that a number of Germans replace the Austrian generals. GERMAN COMMENT. (Published in The Times.) (Rec. Aug. 5, 9.5 a.m.) LONDON, Aug. .4. The Lokal Anzeiger says that- Hinden burp's extended' command has "been joyfully received by the whole of the German people, enhancing their confidence in the collapse of the Russians' attacks on the East front.
