AIR RAIDS
ASTONISHINGLY SMALL DAMAGE (Australian and N.Z. Cable Association.) (Rec. Aug, 4, 1.40 p.m.) LONDON, Aug. 3. The Zeppelin attack on the. Eastern and south-eastern counties did not penetrate far inland, except at one point. Bombs were dropped- in widely distant localities, but mainly near the sea. In conjunction with this attack two airships were seen to approach the Kent coast and drop bombs. The damage was astonishingly small. Nine horses were killed. The military object of the raid is not apparent. 3 Only two Zeppelins were seen returning to Holland, though four crossed. A DAMAGED AIRSHIP. ; (Rec. Aug. 4, 1.40 p.m.) AMSTERDAM. Aug. 3. Reports state that Lll flew along the coast, apparently damaged and> improperlv controlled. Coastguards fired' a shot and the airship disappeared westward, having a list. GERMAN VERSION.

LONDON, Aug. 3. A German communique says :—"A largß number of airships attacked with good' results the London, naval base, Harwich industrial establishments, and Norfolk. Though fiercely bombarded all returned, unharmed."
The Press Bureau declares that the communique is untrue from beginning to end.
