The German shipping companies arc preparing for the end of the war, and it is stated at Hamburg, says an Amsterdam correspondent, that they have 600.000 tons of new ships ready to be empioved directly peace is declared. The-Hamburg-Amerika and North German Lloyd yards are working day and night turn-'.ng out liners for the American and South "American services. Among the ivew liners are Bismarck, Cap Polouio, Admiral Tirpitz, Burgermeister Oswald, Burgermeister Borchard, Hindenburg, Zeppel l n, Munchen. The first five belong to the HamburgAmerika Line, the others to the North German Llovd. The Bismarck is the largest liner *in the world. The smaller coir,':anies are also working their utmost, the * German -Government placing unlim'ted funds at their disposal.
