J LADY LIVERPOOL COMMITTEE. The monthly meeting of the Lady ( Liverpool Committee was held on TuesJ day afternoon in Hallenstein's rooms, i Mrs W. Lock presiding. There was a j fair attendance of members. j Correspondence was read from Mrs j Holland', Christehurch, stating that at a ; special meeting of the Christehurch | Committee it was decided to send to the whole of C Company of the Sixteenth j and Seventeenth Reinforcements leather I waistcoats to be distributed to the men j prior to their leaving New Zealand. The j Christehurch Committee pointed out that as usual Nelson would no doubt be prepared to supply their quota,, which would be 600 waistcoats, costing £225. Mrs Lock said that unless we supplied, our quota the Nelson boys would be left out in the distribution of waistcoats.

After some discussion as to funds, the treasurer said that the amount in hand would, not anything like cover the cost of waistcoats.

Finally it -was decided' to advise the Christehurch centre that Nelson would provide their share, the Nelson' committee trusting that the appeal to the public would meet with the usual ready response.

It was resolved, that on Tuesday, August Bth, the next gift cases be packed., morning, and afternoon. Private parcels are to be left at Mrs Lock's not later than Saturdav.

A letter was read from Captain Dron, of the Ist Battalion, Canterbury InfaKfry Regiment, from which the following is taken:—"Thanks to the generosity of the Nelson people we have received numerous gifts, which have proved most acceptable. I think the gifts you have been sending are quite suitable, and any future gifts might well be on similar lines. The men are all fit and well. On. behalf of the company I thank you and your committee for all you are doing for us."

Donations of illustrated weekly newspapers and. magazines are solicited, and may be left at Mrs W. Lock's.
