MANSLAUGHTER CHARGE

CHRTSTCHURCH. August 1. In the Supreme Court to-day. Michae. Carev of the Sixteenth Reinforcements who T appeared i» uniform, was found Vuiltv of the manslaughter of Frederi-.v-William Allen on July 15th, and sen tenced to 18 months' imprisonment. Ab Justice Denniston said the prisoner had unurstlv endeavoured to lay blame c.i the deceased. The prisoner, however had rot been found guilty of any- moral turpitude, and hss friends could applyto. the Government for a remission of his sentence.
