A telephone message received from Darfield sifter 11 o'clock to-ni<rhfc says that a goods train from Arthur's Pass ran into a slip at Avoca. the engine \eing partiallv derailed and several trucks smashed. The train was .carrying, live stock from the West Coast to Ad dington market for tcajmorrowls sale.
