NO IHLITAIRY QUESTIONS.

Questions regarding tie census to be taken in October next were asked in the House of Jrt-epresentatives last evening y •Mr J. C. Thomson. Be asked whether the census was being taken for military purposes or for electoral purposes. Then ke"asked the Alinister to draw the attention of the Electoral Boundaries Commissioners to the fact that many districts had lost population by the absence of large numbers of men on active service. . The Hon. G. W. Russell replied' that the census to be taken on October 15th ■would be. the ordinary census. There •would be nothing in the census papers raising the question of military service 5n anv way whatever. "With regard to the other point raised, the attention of the Government had already been directed to it. Full information was being ob--1 tained for electoral purposes of the number of men from different electorates who were out of the Dominion. Re■Curns would be prepared if possible and handed to the Boundaries Commissioners, setting forth the number of soldiers, nurses and other persons absent from every electorate on active service or on other military work.
