SILVER BULLET DONATIONS.

(To the Editor.} Sir,—Now that the Sick, and Wounded Fund' in connection with the SPver Bullet- is drawing to a close.. I should !ik«? to express not only my own opinion, but of many others, on the subject of the list of * donations published in papers. So far only names of those giving £25 or over are inserted; but is this fair? 1 am confident that hundreds who have given small amounts are to be more highly commended, than those saving l the larger amounts, because- it has been a greater sacrifice. Therefore, -why should the public only know of those who have given the larger amounts? We have had the names of these from the start. bo that a lot of the early donations have -been published dailv. We know that someone has given £IOOO or £SOO, but ■why keep publishing it and leave the smaller amounts unpublished. If a- complete list of, say. £1 and over was published, it woulu show a bis unpublished' list of those who have not p,iven and who can well afford to. We have heard so much of shirkers ; but it is a far .greater disgra-ce to be a financial shirker. ■when w-e are comfortable at home and the boy.s giving up everything for us. I trust" the> Executive will see their way dear to have the full list published ; and T also trust this will appeal to tluv=e who have not yet helped this noble effort on and do not let- us have the stigma of being behind other parts of New Zealand. I believe that' Nelson district has dene as well, or better, than any other part of X r ew Zealand. This proves the necessity for greater efforts financially. I am, etc.. A. WTLKTXSOX. Hope.
