The newspaper Globe states that the heroic fighting of the Auzacs was of particular interest because they closely resemble Americans. LONDON, July 27. A Berlin communique savs: There is intense artillery activity on both sidesbetween the Ancre and the Somme. We repulsed enemy hand grenade attacks ■ westwards of Pozieres. Captain Alastair Thomson, of the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders, the third son of Mr Sinclair Thomson, of Oeraldine, New Zealand, was killed tii France.
