TELEPHONE SYSTEM.
(To the Editor.) Sir, — Your correspondents re the system in Nelson are hardly fair to the business man of Nelson. Ijt ig not for any want of . that the business men of ■ Nelson'liaVft not worried the Government for a better system, but that they think that at the present- time when the Government has almost more than enough, to undertake in connection with the war, that it would he unwise and only tend to 'embarrass the ' Government to approach them at the present time arid ask for. another system to me installed. : Surely, we can be" a little unselfish at. this tiljru* and -wait until the war is ended, belore we complain that money ; that .should^ to used in the prosecution of the""war should bo spent on or for the benefit, of those who are not fighting. After Vil.'.e' war is over, no doubt the Chamber of Commerce and those interested will see to it that the promised! installation, will be gone on with, and I have no doubt that the iGovernment ■■will do/what. it. 'can. —I am, etc., • - r "''!■■• ■ ALERT. ; :
