MAROONED EXPLORERS
RELIEF OF SHACKLE-TON EXPEDITION. (Australian and N.Z. Cable Association.) (Rec. Julv 22, 11.25 a.m.) ' .LONDON, July 21. On receipt of the New Zealand Government's cable stating that repairs to the Aurora would occupy at least 60 days owing to labour uncertainty, the British Government has decided, owing to urgent, cables from Sir E. Shackleton, to despatch a vessel from England, though the journey from Plymouth to Elephant Tsland is twice the distance from Wellington. The Hudson's Bay Company, owners of the whaler Discovery, used! in tho 1910 expedition, thereupon loaned the vessel for relief, and she leaves in a few days. She will be towed most of the journey to save time. It is considered that the effort Sir E, Shackleton is now making has little chance of success.
