MOTUEKA HARBOUR

At a special meeting of the Motueka' Harbour Board) a report was considered (says the Star) which disclosed the fact that the work as originally had not •been -completed, and that injury had 'been done to the harbour by depositing .boulders across* the old Moutere channel, thereby altering the outflow of the water greatly to the prejudice of the whole work. The board in considering the matter recognised the fact that further dredging was imperative as advised 'by the engineer, who, in pointing out the necessity, made' it clear that dredging operations must foe put in hand 1 frami time .to time antu the beaches ins the vicinity of the basin had attained a natural 'batter. He also pointed out the necessity of re-staring the old Moutre channel by dredging. After carefully weighing the matter the board arrived* at the conclusion that the 1 work must be done, tind -resolved' to promote a Bill for the raising of £6OOO under the Local Bodies' Loans Act ("for harbour improvements and increased -wharfage facilities"), the latter portion shaving- a special reference to the construction of a. wharf at the southern entrance for the use of the Tasman district.

It was determinedi to approach the.
