The Prime Mia liter and the Hon. J. Allen, who 'Were in the House yesterday afternoon were not present last evening, their recovery not being yet complete. Sir Joseph Ward was still confined to bed yesterday with influenza. —Own correspondent.
' Trooper R. C 4. Cooke (died of wounds) is not Trooper R. G. Cooke, son of Mrs ■Cooke, of Richmond. The next-of-kin of the deceased soldier reside at Christchurch.
Word has been received that LanceCorporal A. N. Field, son of Mr T. A. H. Field, M.P., who was wounded in the thigh a month ago, is now able to fret about on sticks, tic reports having a good time in London.
Lieutenant E. J. Fawcett, of Tadmor, is amonpst those reported wounded in a recent casualty list.
Miss J. Johnston, of the Hampden street school teaching- staff, has resigned her position, and will leave for Auckland next week.
At a largely attended gathering, in the Waimea West School last evening good wishes were extended to Corporal A. Tom-linson, of tin; Sixteenth Reinforcements, who was home'on final leave. Mr W. L. Palmer, on behalf of the Patriotic Committee .presented the soldier with a. wristlet- watch as e. parting gift, and Mt H. Palmer, for the Tennis Club, handed him a .r.air .of military" i air brushes. Mr A/ B. Hall added a few words in appreciation of Corporal Tomlinsou's enlistment.
