WELLINGTON DIOCESAN". COUNCIL. Tho annual meeting of the Wellington Diocesan Council of the Catholic Federation commenced vesterday •morning' at St. Patrick's Hall, Boulcott street, Wellington. Nelson was xepa'eseinted by the Rev. Father Bartley. His Grace Archbishop Redwood briefly addressed the council, and -wished' its deliberations, -every success. His Grace read a most interesting letter fromi liis Ijordship Bishop Cleary, giving an account of his journey 'through America and on to Italy. IDs Lordship asserted that his health was greatly imipuwed, and that ho was making the best use of the tour. His grace concludedi by giving the federation his 'best blessing and support. His Grace Archbishop O'Shea then; addressed the comical, making general reference to the success the Federation had achieved- during the fast year. Tho membership in the d'.ocese had greatly increased, and his Grace was pleased' to ! see tha.fc the clergy .in most 'parishes sir !,- the diocese were taking an active and earliest interest in its -welfare. His Grace also referred to the success of the several activities of the federation, such, as tho establishment of a hostel, etc., and was pleased l to see that proposals were made to give the niiem'bei-s of the council a little more opportunity for meeting each other away from business.
