The Barometer Committee wishes it to be made known that those donating £25 or over may spread their contribution over a. period of two years, the Committee having had special promissory notes printed payable to the trustees of the Sick and Wounded Fund (Messrs C. J. Harley, E. J. Allen, and W. S. Snodgrass). PADDY'S MARKET. This evening «ti 8 o'clock Paddy's •Market -will .be formally opened by the Mayor (Mr C. J. Harley). , The Market will be open to the pub! c art, 7 o'clock, and preceding the formal opening there will' be a. torchlight procession, in which the Fire Brigade, Territorials, returned soldiers, and others will take ipart. The addition of annexes gives a. great deal more space, all of which is taken up. In the Drill Hall proper there hnf heen erected, a commodious stage for --he entertainers who will appear n/ghtly with new and novel items. The tea kiosk will he at the south' end) of the hall, and on the sides are the stalls of various armies. In) the main annex are further stalls.

In the grounds of the Government Bu'.ldings is a platform; for the fcug-of-war, for which there are'a large number of entries. Here also will be located booths, with various side shows. The Provincial Hall will be used as a continuous ballroom'. Mr F. W. Fairey will pen his champion white .bullock "Charlie" and! his full sister, and a grossing competitor) will be held for the nearest guess at the live weight of the two 'beasts. For prizes Mr Fairey offers to supply meat to the value of *£7 10s and £2 10s respectively. All units of the Xnt'onal Reserve will parade at the Drillshed this evening, to take part in, the .procession. Returned soldiers will iparade at ihe Drillshed at 7.15 tb's evening. SILVER BULLET PIERROTS.

A special stage has been erected in Paddy's Market on which the Silver Bullet Pierrots will perform. The programme is a varied one, and the solo work such as the acrobatic dance, skating exhibition, and a toe dance by .Miss Doris Scott, will be something quite new to Nelson. The solo of "Good-bye, Girlie, I must go," will be sung by Mrs Jacobsen, who will be supported' by the following C. Dayman, J. Jack, I. Heath, A. Hawke, G. Watkins, D. Boyes, and R. Johnston'. Mr W. 'Lints and Miss D. Scott will g'.ve an exhibition of the hesitation! waltz. The Dutch dance is always a. favourite. lbs number will be danced! by Misses D. Boves, Doris Scott, C. Dayman, A. Hawke, J- Jack, I. Heath, G. Watkins, and R. Johnston. "The Passing of Autumn," a solo toe dance by Miss Doris Scott, is a very dl'fficult piece of work. Mir Lints expects that his two Teddy hears will be a po?oilar hit. These roles will be .filled by Masters Geoff. Scott and Rex Lulham. Mr Lints and Miss Scott will be seen in an' acrobatic dance at the conclusion of "Just a Night in Dreamland." The solo will be sung by Mrs Jacobsen, supported by a chorus of Pierrots. Mr Lints will give an exhibition of trick and fancy skating, which will include toe skating, grapevines, Mohawks, Maltese cross on the toes with grapevine turns, waltz steps, gavotte, 'two-step, and threading the lighted, maze. He will also g>;ve an exhibition of waltz, clog, and ragtime ! steps on the latest ball bearing skates, j ! There is no extra charge to witness the I Pea-rots, who will give a change of programme each evening. A first-class orchestra will assist. TUG-OF-WAR. The tug-of-war to wmmence to-morrow evening °in conjunction with Paddy's Market promises to be a great sucess. WAIMEA RANGERS. A successful meeting for Hope and Hanzau was held at the residence of Mr Wilkinson, hon .secretary, and full arrangements were made to work the vhrTe district for money and produce. A patriotic drawing-room entertainment was arranged, for next Wednesday, and a big success is assured, as a very fine programme has been prepared. 'Oig event for Hope district will be held in Mr Percy Hall's grounds on Wednesday, July 26th.
