PROGRESS IN THE TRENTINO AUSmiAN ASSAULTS' REPULSED. (Australian and N.Z. Cable Association.) ROME. July 4. A communique states that there was desperate fighting on Sunday on the northern slopes of the Pasubio. ■Our infantry drove 'back repeated assaults, and counter-attacked with the bayonet, inflicting heavy losses. There was heavy fighting in the Posina Valley. We occupied the northern edge of the Assa Valley. A violent engagement is proceeding at Monfalcone. . AUSTRIAN . COUNTER-ATTACKS REPULSED. July 6, 1.T50 p.m.) ROME, July 5. , A communique says the Austrians between the Adiage and the Brenta are strenuously contesting our advance, and atempted counter attacks at various points. We repulsed night attacks against Mount Zukna trenches. After several attempts our Aloinists yesterday reached the summit of Mount Corno, north-west- of Pasubio. Our infantry, despite the difficulties of the ground and the stern resistance, captured the crest of Mount Seluggio, and advanced towards Riofreddo and Astico. •The Austrians after intense artillery bombarment, attacked the Primelunetta positions in the Campelle Valley, but were driven off. i .
