Last evening the House of Representatives was occupied with a discussion\ on, amendments made by, -the Legislative . Council in the Military Service Bill. The Hon. J. Allen / moved that the 1 House agree with 1 all -the amendments with the exception of the -. amendment !■■■;■ the principal alterations : of which were the religious objectors' clause, provision v. < to final appeal board', and talcing away ( the right of an employer who -is also partv to an appeal. Mr Isitt made a strong app'eal on' behalf of religious objectors and moved * - as an amendment that the clause.-"'pro- :;■■■■ vided for their • exemption. ; be added to those with which the House should agree. ■ After a lengthy discussion Mr Isitt's amendment was defeated 1 by 35 to 19.
