'RETIREMENT FROM ADVANCED POSITIONS. ROME, May 25. A compnunique spates that tfurious bombardments occurred in the Larcarina "Valley. Elsewhere minor Austrian attacks were repulsed. The evacuation of the upper basin of the Posina and the Astico has now been effected in perfect order. The Italians are strengthening their positions on the protective line of the Arsero basin. We destroj'ed artillery which it was impossible to withdraw. The enemy exercised strong pressure east of Valdasse. Our retirement from Sugana Valley, which began on the 22nd, continues slowly and methodically. AN AUSTRIAN COMMUNIQUE. AMSTERDAM. May 25An Austrian communique says:— "Our; troops die advancing on both sides of the Sugana Valley. The enemy precipitately evacuated Borgo, leaving a great quantity of booty. We captured the fortifications of Monte Vere,na." ITALY'S 'DECLARATION OF WAR. ROME, May 25. The anniversary of the declaration of war was celebrated with . tremendous enthusiasm throughout Italy. The flags of the " Allies we're lavishly displayed.
