AUSTRALASIAN & ARGENTINE MEAT
COMPLAINT BY IMPORTERS. , - (Press Association. —Copshigesi.) . (Sec. May 26, 12.20 p.m.) ' V LONDON, May.as. , Meat importers cornpiain that Australian and New Zealand mutton and lamb are being sold at -an average of three- t , halfpence a pound cheaper than Ar£eii- , i tine, ostensibly in o'rder to keep prices down. It is alleged that the Government is thereby realising £20,000 weekly less than 'might be obtained. This A sum is apparently going into the pockets of intermediates aiw Kot benefitting consumers as retail prices are the same as ' Argentine. Forced sales of colonial meat at lower prices than Argentine tend'to . prejudice the reputation of colonial .produce to the advantage of its strongest competitor.
