BAD NEWS FROM MEXICO
UNEASINESS AT WASHINGTON. (Pbisi Association.— Coptxiqhs.) LONDON, March 26. ■ The Times correspondent at Washington; states thai there is increasing nervousness with regard to Mexico. The United- States War Department admits that Herrera, President Carranza's chief lieutenant in. the north, has gone over , to Villa, with 2CCO troops. Other defections ar e rumoured. There is bad news from Tampico. The populace of this wild district in ■ inflamagainst-■ Americans,and an uprising is feared. Itt is probable that- in order to cope, with the situation and keep open the communications, the Regular Army will be ordered to the frontier. Senator Sherman, speaking in theSenate, said that General Pershing (commanding the American punitive expedition)! might meet the fate of Gordon, at Khartoum.
