CORESPONDENGE

Mr J. Marchbanks, engineer io' the' Wellington Harbour Board, wrote stating that the Board would be willing to hire the dredge Whakarire to the Nelson Harbour Board for £SOO, the hirers to pay all salaries, wages, supplies, etc., until ready to resume dredging at Wellington. In event of the dredge being wrecked the Nelson Board to pay the Wellington Board £25,000. The cosjts for four weeks, including hire, were estimated at £ll4O. . The letter' was referred to the subcommittee previously set up. GENERAL. The matter of -the signal staff was deferred for a month, tile sub-committee to report. ' Applications from the pilot «'ew for their annual holiday Were granted. _ It was resolved that consideration of the loan proposal for -further harbour improvements be postponed- for three months, members agreeing that the present was not" a, favourable time for going oh with the matter owing to the war.
