GENERAL TOWNSHEND'S REPORT. HEAVY TURKISH LOSSES. LONDON, Jan. 1. A report from General Townshend states that the enemy asked for a four hours' armistice to bury the dead and remove the wounded before the fort was attacked on Christmas Day., Independent reports confirm the heavy Turkish losses at Ctesiphon> and also during General Townshend's retreat and in the recent attacks at Kut-el-Amara. Our casualties during the Christmas fighting were 71 killed and 309 wounded. are "steadily pushing up.
A TURKISH COMMUNIQUE.
AMSTERDAM, Dec. 31
A Turkish communique says:—The battle at Kut-el-Amara continues. We captured 450 tons of British-owned petroleum.
