The rainfall for the month of March totalled 2.80 inch, compared with 1.94 inch- for the corresponding month in 1914. . A correspondent who recently advertised in, the Christchurch ''Press" for "Cadet for sheep station; youth leaving school preferred," received some singular replies. ' "One," he says, ""wrote as follows:—"I have jiist left Wanganui College, and I want to.put in the next three or four months in'the country.' To this young gentleman I replied as under: —■ ' "Thanks for your letter. But this is a sheep-station, not a (pleasure resort. Try Mt. Cook!" _ Another would-be sheepfarmer wrote as his great, and so far as one could gather from .his letter, only qualification: —"I .am an expert photographer, and during my travels .in latter years have taken a lot'of very interesting pictures.'. This 'youth' does not state his. age, the 'latter years' might infer maturity' ! Another youth wrote stating he had 'matriculated,', and- would accept the position 'if .not too far away.' Perhaps he never thought of looking up on the map* or railway time-table ! • So much for his 'matriculation'!"

ELECTION OF SCHOOL COMMITTEES IN accordance with, the provisions of "The-Education Act, 1914," it is hereby notified that MEETINGS OF HOUSEHOLDERS will be held in all the School Districts within the Education District! of Nelson, at 8 ip.m. on MONDAY, the 19th day of April, 1915, for the Election of School Committees.
