The Hon. 'Colonel G. J. Smith arrived from Christchurch this morning. While in Nolson Colonel Smith will visit the Camp at Tapawera.
The Town Clerk (Mr G. A. Edmonds) leaves by, the Mapourika this evening on 'a visit to Wellington for a few days.
Mr W. E. Wilkee, of Richmond, has returned home from a yis\t to England. : -Notwithstanding the "\var breaking out, Mr Wilkes was able co get about on the Continent, and much enjoyed a motor trip through England.
A Melbourne Press Association cable states that tho Moyea's New Zealand passengers: arc Messrs Gromb, Harlow, Bapston ; Mesdames Maloney, Gromb; Mi's6es Green and Dcnniston. ■
The Public Sei-vice Commissioner has notified tlio appointnicut of Mr Richard Brabazon Morris, Chief Postmaster, at Christchurch, to the, position, oi Chief Inspector of the Post and Telegraph pa'r.tment. Mi" Morris is to- ta3ce ,up, his duties at an early date. • The present holder of the position, Mr David Miller, is ietiring on superannuation.—Press Association.
