CLUB AND HOTEL WORKERS
SIX-DAY WEEK TN CLUBS SOUGHT (Ui»»ted Tress Association.) WELLINGTON, Tliis Day. An 'application was made by the. Wellington Hotel Workers' Union yesterday to attach the Wellington club's to the hotel workers' award, with a view to' getting ;i six-day week lor club workers as was the case for hotel - employees. There is, it appears. a doubt as to whether the Arbitration Court, can. legally bind clubs to any award : but in the event of an adverse decision the union is taking steps to secure an amendment of the Acts. ii\ effect the legislation proposed is that only chartered clubs shall be bound by awards, and that each club shall have the option <jf giving up its charter or running its bar business under the same labour conditions as licensed hotel keepers are obliged to run theirs.
