. The InteivSlatc Commerce Commission is investigating the affairs of the New York. Newhaven, and Hartford Railway. It has learned that Mr J. Pierpont Morgan spent millions in acquiring subsidiary properties. Other financial magnates associated with him looked on awed.
Mr Mellon, ex-prcsident of the railroad, declared that Mr Morgan treated him like a child, and hs was too awed to question anything Mr Morgan did. Mr Morgan" consulted Mr Roosevelt about some purchases, and Mr Roosevelt warned Air Morgan that he must keep inside the brw. whatever else he did. Mr Alellen admits that a very largo sum of meney was set aiide to buy alterations to railway charters. He declared that political leaders had acted for Mr Pierpont Morgan, who was already to do business with the devil himself in order to get what he wanted.
