BODY WASHED ASHORE AT NAPIER. * .

/ • NAPIER, May 20. The body of a man was washed ashore at Westshqre, Napier, this morning. By • its appearance it had been in the water (for several, days. It is believed to be the body of Donald McLeod, who has been missing from Port- Ahuriri since Saturday. SEAMAN BLEEDS TO DEATH. WELLINGTON, May 20. Frederick Knudsen, a seaman belonging to the steamer Kapuni, burst a blood vessel and bled to death, just before the vessel was to leave Wellington, for Patea this afternoon. The deceased was a native of Sweden, and had no relations in New Zealand. MAN MUSSING. CARTERTON, This Day. A man, whose name is unknown, is missing. —He went out to work on Mr D. Buchanan's homestead, and was directed and §et off on foot, and has not been seen since. Search was made all night. MAORI DROWNED At* WAIROA. WATROA, This Day. A; Maori named Tipu Karauria, aged 22, a native of Tapuo, was drowned in the Mohaka- river last evening. He was engaged, in collecting drift wood, but slipped in, and was carried away. While going down stream -he managed to get o going down stream he managed to get on a huge log, and was seen undressing, in order to make an attempt to swim, when the log was carried out into the breakers over the bar, and he was drowned. The body has been recovered. An inquest is being held.
