STEAMER ON FIRE

HALIFAX (N.S.), May 5. An unidentified steamer on -fire is reported three hundred miles south of Cape Race by the steamer Seydlitz, which is unable, to identify her owing to the thick smoke. No sign of life is discoverable. The Seydlitz culled other liners by wireless. the Sachem, Branderburg, Olympia, and Franconia responding. No trace of the ship's boats has been found, and the fate of the crew is a mystery. »
